What this part is and where it is used

A valve body is the pressure-containing shell of a valve. It holds the bore the media flows through, the seat where the closure member seals, the stem passage that carries the actuator, and the end connections that join the valve into a pipeline or manifold. Bodies are bought by valve manufacturers and by OEMs who build valves into skids, pumps, process lines and mobile equipment. Because the body is a pressure boundary, the wall sections, port intersections and seat geometry are all defined by the drawing, and they are machined rather than left in an as-cast or as-forged state. We machine ball, butterfly, gate and check valve bodies, along with their bonnets and end caps, entirely to your drawing.

Types and variants we manufacture

We machine the common body families. Ball valve bodies come as one-piece, two-piece and three-piece designs, with a bore that receives the ball and a seat pocket on either side. Butterfly valve bodies are a short ring with a stem bore through the wall and flange or lug features for installation. Gate valve bodies carry a wedge-shaped cavity and a bonnet joint face. Check valve bodies include swing, lift and wafer styles, each with its own seat and hinge or guide geometry. Alongside bodies we machine bonnets, end caps and flange adapters so a complete valve can be produced in one order. Every variant is taken from your drawing — the bore size, the seat layout, the flange drillings and the wall thicknesses are all as specified. Joint faces on multi-part bodies are machined flat and matched so the two halves seat cleanly, and larger bodies are turned and milled from a single billet or from a forging.

Materials, threads and finishes

Material selection for a valve body follows the media and the environment. Stainless steel 304 and 316L cover corrosive and clean service. Carbon steel and alloy steel 4140 cover general process duty. Brass and copper suit water and plumbing, and titanium appears where strength and corrosion resistance both matter. End connections are machined to the drawing: threaded ends in NPT or BSP, flanged ends with raised-face or flat-face features, or weld-end preparation. Wetted and exterior surfaces are finished through our vetted partner network, managed under one quality process — passivation and electropolishing for stainless, plating and black oxide for steel. See our materials and surface finishes pages for the full range.

Industries and applications

Valve bodies feed a broad spread of industries. Oil and gas equipment, water and wastewater plants, chemical processing, marine systems and agricultural machinery all run on machined valve bodies where a stock casting will not meet the drawing. Hydraulic and pneumatic circuits use compact bodies for directional and check functions. Our industries page, and the oil and gas parts and marine parts pages, cover these applications. What matters in every case is a body whose bore, seat and end connections are machined to drawing and ready to assemble. A machined body also holds the same bore and seat geometry across a whole production run, which is why OEMs specify machined rather than cast-alone bodies for service-critical valves.

Why order this part from our factory

A valve body has to hold a seal and a pressure boundary, so the machining has to be right the first time. Our factory in Qidong City, Jiangsu Province, China machines the body, bonnet and end cap together, and ships with a material certificate (MTR) and pre-shipment photos. We quote within 24 hours with DFM feedback on the bore, seat and wall geometry. Precision features are held to ±0.01 mm with ISO 2768-m as the general tolerance, within an 800 × 500 mm milling envelope, with turning for the round bores and flanges. MOQ is from 50 pieces, samples from 1 piece in 5–10 days, and production in 25–35 days after approval. See CNC milling and CNC turning, or request a quote.

Frequently asked questions

What types of valve bodies do you machine?

Ball, butterfly, gate and check valve bodies, plus bonnets, end caps and flange adapters — all machined to your drawing.

What materials can you machine valve bodies from?

Stainless steel 304 and 316L, carbon steel, alloy steel 4140, brass, copper and titanium.

Do you machine from solid or from a casting or forging?

Both. We machine from solid stock or from a near-net casting or forging sourced through our vetted partner network.

Can you machine the bore, seat pocket and stem bore in one workpiece?

Yes. The through bore, seat pocket, stem bore and gland features are machined together so they stay concentric and aligned.

What end connections do you support?

Threaded ends in NPT and BSP, flanged ends with raised-face or flat-face features, and weld-end preparation — as the drawing calls for.

What tolerance can you hold on the seat and bore?

±0.01 mm on precision features such as the bore and seat pocket, with ISO 2768-m as the general tolerance.

Can you finish the wetted surfaces?

Yes. Passivation and electropolishing for stainless, and plating and black oxide for steel — through our vetted partner network, managed under one quality process.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Production MOQ is from 50 pieces, and we make samples from 1 piece for design validation.

How long do samples and production take?

Samples take 5–10 days and production takes 25–35 days after you approve the sample.

Do you provide material certificates?

Yes. Every shipment includes a material certificate (MTR) and pre-shipment photos.

Can you machine matching bonnets and end caps in the same order?

Yes. Bodies, bonnets and end caps can be machined in one order so the whole valve arrives together.

How do I get a quote?

Send your drawing through the request-a-quote form or on WhatsApp. We reply within 24 hours with pricing and DFM feedback.

Can you machine a manifold from our existing 3D model?

Yes. Send a STEP or IGES model plus a PDF drawing, and we quote from the model with DFM feedback within 24 hours.

What materials can you machine manifolds from?

Aluminium 2024, 5052, 6061 and 7075; stainless steel 303, 304, 316 and 17-4PH; carbon steel 1045 and 1215; alloy steel 4140; brass, copper and bronze; and titanium.

Which port threads do you support?

SAE straight-thread O-ring ports, BSP and BSPT, NPT and NPTF, and metric ISO ports — whatever the drawing calls for.

Can you drill intersecting cross galleries?

Yes. We machine blind, through and intersecting galleries, including angled and deep cross-drilled passages, to your drawing.

What tolerance can you hold on cartridge cavities and bores?

±0.01 mm on precision features, with ISO 2768-m as the general tolerance unless the drawing states otherwise.
