Captive Screws

A captive screw stays attached to its panel or bracket even when fully loosened, through a shoulder, retainer ring or grommet behind the panel. It cannot be dropped or lost during servicing.

It holds removable covers, front panels and rack hardware in electronics and telecom equipment. Enclosure builders and equipment makers specify it where a loose fastener would fall into the machine.
