Thread Cutting Screws
A thread cutting screw cuts its own mating thread in a pre-drilled hole using a sharp edge, flute or slotted point, rather than displacing material. It suits harder or less ductile base materials where forming would crack them.
It fastens into castings, thick sheet and hard non-ferrous parts where a cut thread is cleaner than a formed one. Appliance and machinery makers specify it for brittle or hard bases.
